Acrylic on canvas, 22″x22″
« I am fascinated like many of us by Frida Kahlo. Not so much
for her art per se, but for her strength and resilience. Every time I paint her, she literally energizes me. This painting is
inspired by a photo showing her at the age of 25, in Detroit, in front of one of the imposing murals that her husband, Diego Rivera, painted at the time. Two days before this photo was taken, the young artist had a miscarriage. Behind her, I placed a character evoking one of Diego’s murals, to underline the importance of the presence of this immense artist in Frida’s life. »
